They continued the discussion by focusing on key European issues. They agreed on the importance of further strengthening political relations between the countries, which are of particular significance especially in the light of Slovenia's Presidency of the EU in the first half of 2008 and followed by the French Presidency in the second half of the same year. They also agreed that it was essential to pursue the political process towards strengthening the EU role in the global arena. They stressed the importance of the EU policy towards its neighbourhood and supported further enlargement, particularly towards the West Balkans. As to the issue of migration, they shared the same opinion that the enlargement of the Schengen area to the entire EU would help to deal with future challenges in this field more efficiently.
