On this occasion, the PM, who also attended the Extraordinary Summit of the European People's Party, said that the EU had been a success story. "Of course there are issues, but issues already existed in the past. The European story proves that issues can be successfully solved by compromise, which moves things forward," said the PM, adding that compromise would also be needed in the future. According to Mr Janša, the Berlin Declaration, signed on this occasion, includes basic values on which Europe is based. "If Europe – the same as in the past – will continue to follow its values, they will be preserved," concluded the PM.
