Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Janša congratulates former Finnish President Martti Ahtisaari

On the occasion of today's decision by the Norwegian Nobel Committee on the award of the 2008 Nobel Peace Prize, Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Mr Janez Janša, congratulated the former Finnish President Martti Ahtisaari.

"Both the Slovenian Government and I personally highly appreciate your efforts in resolving a number of serious and long-lasting conflicts in different parts of the world", PM Janez Janša wrote in his letter to the former President Ahtisaari. The Slovenian Primer Minister emphasised, in particular, Mr Ahtisaari's contribution to peace and stability in this part of Europe. "Your outstanding achievements are our inspiration and proof that international mediation can have great importance in peaceful resolution of disputes in international conflicts," he added.

 

The Slovenian Primer Minister Janez Janša wished this year's Nobel Peace Prize laureate to successfully continue his noble mission also in the future.
