Prime Minister Borut Pahor meets Lama Shenphen Rinpoche

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Mr Borut Pahor, today held a meeting with the leader of the Dharmaling Buddhist Congregation, Lama Shenphen Rinpoche. Today’s meeting was one of a series of meetings held between Prime Minister Pahor and representatives of religious communities in the Republic of Slovenia. With dialogue of this kind, the Government aims to create an atmosphere in which every citizen of Slovenia feels that the right to religious expression is not undermined.

After the meeting, Lama Shenphen Rinpoche noted with satisfaction: “This is a first step forward, and it may be assessed as good and positive.” The talks touched on issues regarding Slovenian legislation in the field of the activities of religious communities. The Government's side stressed that today’s meeting demonstrated the current Government’s aim of treating all religious communities, regardless of their size, on an equal footing.
