Prime Minister Borut Pahor: The Government will stimulate competitive companies

"The Government will not help companies that can be justifiably judged as non-competitive today or will remain so in the future. It will, however, stimulate competitive companies so they can employ new labour," stated the Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, at a public debate in Nova Gorica.

Prime Minister Pahor, who took part in a debate organised by the daily Primorske novice entitled "There are ideas in the air, do we know how to fetch them?" also announced the establishment of a risk capital fund and stated that assisting companies for which there is no clear indication that they are or will be competitive would be unproductive. In the Prime Minister’s words, the Government will help workers who have lost jobs in non-competitive companies and at the same time encourage competitive and healthy companies to hire additional employees. "The management must know that they can rely on the Government only if they have bold plans themselves," added PM Pahor.
