Prime Minister Pahor and President Barroso meeting primarily concerns global financial crisis

During his two-day visit to Brussels, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, today met the President of the European Commission, José Manuel Barroso.  “I informed President Barroso of all the priorities of this Government, including action to ameliorate the consequences of the global financial crisis and economic slowdown as a top priority. Slovenia is fit in economic terms but we are part of global processes – therefore action is urgently required.  I have already appointed a crisis group of ministers who will prepare a package of necessary measures,” emphasised the Slovenian Prime Minister after his talks with the European Commission President.

President Barroso expressed his satisfaction with Slovenia's support of the European Economic Recovery Plan submitted by the European Commission on 26 November 2008.  He welcomed the measures that Slovenia has already implemented or announced in response to the crisis, which he views as being in line with the proposals of the European Commission.  The Slovenian plans are “well harmonised with the plans at the European level,” assessed President Barroso.
