Prime Minister celebrates the 10th anniversary of the Slovenian Armed Forces' 1st Brigade

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Mr Borut Pahor, at the Franc Rozman Stane Military Post in Ljubljana today attended a celebration marking the 10th anniversary of the 1st Brigade of the Slovenian Armed Forces. In his address, the Prime Minister emphasised that from the very beginning “The 1st Brigade not only managed its own development but was the backbone of the development of the Slovenian Armed Forces as a whole, while being at the forefront of military integration of the Republic of Slovenia into NATO and the European Union.”

He went on to say that “In the first decade of its development, this central unit of the Slovenian Armed Forces has grown from a nearly symbolic brigade into a modern military – not solely in terms of manpower, but also in the quality of its command and units coupled with suitable deployment and response capability.” Hence it also became the first entirely professional unit of the Slovenian Armed Forces.

“The troops of the 1st Brigade are today heralds of peace and stability,” said the Prime Minister. He welcomed their endeavours to foster good personal relationships, as well as their concern for their immediate families. On this occasion, he also wished all those present a festive and pleasant Holiday Season along with a proverb of encouragement for the future “fortune favours the brave” – which is definitely an essential characteristic of the many model soldiers in the Slovenian Armed Forces.
