Prime Minister Pahor: Unity is the beacon in Slovenia’s future

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, in Ljubljana attended the first European Evening with Lojze Peterle in the 2008–2009 season. The Prime Minister highlighted unity as the guiding principle for Slovenia on its path to becoming one of the most ambitious countries in the world with the highest degree of solidarity. Its small size in geographical terms, should not pose an obstacle in its endeavours to attain this goal.

In the words of the Prime Minister, it is unity that is of key significance in tackling unresolved issues of our recent history, which will be a priority of the new government. These issues were linked to further maturation of the Slovenian society, assessed Mr Pahor. “If we manage to settle certain insurmountable differences of the 18-year transition period, this will signal that we can also be successful in the next 18 years of our society,” noted Mr Pahor, adding that a very difficult year lies ahead of us and that the Government  therefore cannot afford to act according to ideological principles.
