Slovenian Prime Minister meets with representatives of non-governmental organisations

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, today met with representatives of non-governmental organisations. The meeting was one of a series of bilateral discussions held by the Government of the Republic of Slovenia with various social groups. The meeting was attended by more than 30 representatives of non-governmental organisations.

These bilateral meetings signify the start of a new development dialogue to be launched next year. To this end, meetings with unions, businessmen and employers will be followed by meetings with representatives of Slovenian universities, the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts, and farmers.

At today's meeting, the NGO representatives welcomed the readiness of the Government to strengthen cooperation with the non-governmental sector and to take advantage of its potential. In this regard, Prime Minister Pahor stressed that the crisis may provide an opportunity to break away from old patterns and to start with new ones leading towards a more consensual policy.
