The PM again stressed that Slovenia's position was clear: ''If the circumstances that prompted Slovenia's reservations regarding the negotiations between Croatia and the EU do not change, Slovenia's position will remain the same,'' said Mr Pahor.

According to the PM, the Commissioner informed the Slovenian side about several initiatives that could mean a step toward resolving the border issue between Slovenia and Croatia. ''This is also what the Slovenian Government wants. At this point, we are talking about initiatives that will need to be considered in detail,” said the PM, adding that Slovenia would take the time necessary to do this.

Mr Pahor also said that his proposition to meet with the Croatian Prime Minister is still open. With regard to a potential invitation from his Croatian counterpart against the backdrop of a handball match at the forthcoming World Championship, the Slovenian PM said: “The extent of the issue we are dealing with here is not so negligible that it could be resolved against the backdrop of a sports event, but entails a serious discussion.”

Mr Pahor also said that at this very moment a clear political stance by both countries is needed to finally adopt the decisions which will resolve the border issue both on land and the sea.
