It is the Government’s responsibility to create a social atmosphere that fosters cooperation, says Prime Minister Borut Pahor

The Prime Minister attaches great importance to the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts, which plays an irreplaceable role in encouraging reflection and formulating proposals to help Slovenia take its place among the most developed countries.

Mr Pahor said that another meeting – the last in the series of preliminary meetings with a view to establishing “development dialogue” – was to be held at the end of the week. In light of the current economic and financial situation, the Government of the Republic of Slovenia and representatives of employers, employees, senior citizens, young people, NGOs, universities, the academy and farmers will exchange views on necessary activities in the future and begin talks on the long-term development of Slovenia.

“We are ambitious and determined to continue what the late President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr Janez Drnovšek, started,” maintained the Prime Minister; he added, “Development dialogue will continue until we can reasonably believe that we have sown the seeds of a new development consensus for the future of Slovenia.” In a statement today, apart from development dialogue, the Prime Minister also highlighted the importance of political cooperation.
