Prime Minister Borut Pahor meets representatives of agricultural sector

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, today held a meeting with representatives of social groups dealing with agriculture.  At the meeting, which lasted for an hour, the representatives informed the Government of some unresolved issues in the field of agriculture. According to them, the economic and financial crisis has also affected the agricultural sector and rural areas. The situation in food production requires the input of farmers into proposals being drafted to overcome the economic crisis. The guests welcomed the Government's readiness to participate and confirmed their participation in the development dialogue.

Prime Minister Pahor was pleased with the meeting and announced the first development dialogue meeting, when the participating partners will evaluate the Government's initial measures for combating economic and financial uncertainty. In the second part of the meeting, the partners will be briefed about structural measures for grappling with financial and economic uncertainty. The crisis group of ministers will begin preparing these next Tuesday.  “Development dialogue will be held until we obtain a reasoned finding that the economic crisis is over and true seeds of a new development impetus have been sown,” emphasised the Prime Minister by way of conclusion.
