Prime Minister Borut Pahor receives memorandum from NGOs

In their talks, Prime Minister Pahor underlined the importance of cooperation between the Government and NGOs in this regard. In view of this, the Government invited NGOs to take part in “development dialogue”, aimed at finding the best solutions for tackling the current crisis and giving a new development impetus to Slovenia. Mr Pahor said that the memorandum was a well-considered document calling for a well-considered reply. He gave assurances that he would inform ministers of it and invite the ministries to examine the possibilities of incorporating the content in the Government’s work.

In this regard, the NGO representatives expressed satisfaction that certain ministries have already started a dialogue with NGOs in their fields. They agreed that this was the way forward, to enable working together to find better and more considered solutions to particular issues.

Upon submitting the memorandum, the NGO representatives said that the memorandum was not a programme of the Government’s work in this field, but a vision of their role in the current situation and of the future development of the non-governmental sector. They stressed that some of the measures that are currently being prepared by the “crisis group of ministers” to tackle the crisis are complementary to those in the memorandum.
