Prime Minister Borut Pahor meets Maribor Mayor Franc Kangler

Today in Maribor, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, together with Minister of Education and Sport Dr Igor Lukšič, Minister of Finance Dr France Križanič, and Minister of Culture Majda Širca, held a meeting with the Mayor of the Municipality of Maribor France Kangler, the Mayor of Ruše Vili Rezman, the Mayor of Zreče Boris Podvršnik, and the President of the Slovenian University Sports Association, Prof. Otmar Kugovnik. The meeting focused on the project of the 26th Winter Universiade 2013 in Maribor.

The Prime Minister proposed to the mayors that the Organising Committee of the Winter Universiade in Maribor should adopt the financial structure of the project as soon as possible, precisely setting out the state’s contribution in this regard. The project would then be resubmitted for consideration to the National Assembly, which endorsed the staging of the 2013 Winter Universiade in Maribor during its previous term of office.   “Should the project once again be considered acceptable, the Government will take its share of responsibility,” concluded Mr Pahor.
