Prime Minister Borut Pahor meets European Science and Research Commissioner

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, today met the European Commissioner for Science and Research, Janez Potočnik. Mr Potočnik informed Mr Pahor about the work of the European Commission, focusing on areas that require additional attention.

Prime Minister Pahor and Commissioner Potočnik exchanged views on the current financial and economic situation, agreeing that the current crisis calls for strengthened and more intense co-operation between countries both in Europe and in the world. Mr Pahor informed Mr Potočnik that more funding from the national budget has been earmarked for science and research. Commissioner Potočnik stressed that, in these troubled times, concern for education, science and research, and investment in these areas, is of particular importance.
