Prime Minister Borut Pahor visits the Ljubljana Moste police station and the Police Academy

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, along with the Minister of the Interior, Katarina Kresal, and the Acting Director-General of the Police, Janko Goršek, today paid a visit to the Ljubljana Moste police station. Mr Pahor toured the police station and was informed about the activities of the police and the conditions in which police officers at the station operate.

Prime Minister Pahor then attended a ceremony at the Police Academy in Tacen, in which police medals for bravery and selfless work were awarded. At the ceremony, Mr Pahor addressed participants and congratulated award winners on their achievements: "Today we wish to pay tribute to those who put themselves at risk to help others. In these challenging times, values such as selflessness, courage and bravery are needed more than ever. These values build trust, which is of vital importance to the future of our society."

In a statement following the ceremony, Mr Pahor stressed that, since taking office, he and Minister Kresal had been striving to establish a national investigation office – a new element that will help fight economic crime and corruption. "We are optimistic that the office will begin operating soon and will perform its tasks successfully," he added.
