At today’s session, the ministerial council adopted a platform for supplementing the 2009 state budget. “The Government wishes to introduce programme management to the supplementary budget. This implies not only a linear increase or reduction in budgetary headings, but it will also lead to substantial changes in individual headings, depending on the priorities advocated in these times by the Government," said Prime Minister Pahor.

The ministerial council adopted a plan of measures for the public sector aimed at reducing public finance expenditure. The plan requires that, in the preparation of their financial plans, state administrative bodies reduce expenses earmarked for the supply of goods and services and purchase or construction of fixed assets by at least 20% of the budget currently in force.

At today’s session, the Government adopted a Decree on entertainment expenses. The Decree will enable the Government to unify entertainment expenses and reduce them by 20%. In addition, the Decree requires all budget users to keep current records of such expenses.

As regards the outstanding issues between Slovenia and Croatia, Prime Minister Pahor said that he was acquainted with the proposal by EU Commissionaire Olli Rehn and had decided to consult the state leadership. Prime Minister Pahor and Croatian Prime Minister Sanader have agreed to meet after the conclusion of these consultations.
