Prime Minister convenes 1st session of the Strategic Council for Decentralisation and Regionalisation

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Mr Borut Pahor, today convened the 1st session of the Strategic Council for Decentralisation and Regionalisation. Under his leadership and the leadership of his deputy, the Minister for Local Self-Government and Regional Development, the Council will suggest policies and proposals concerning Slovenia's decentralisation and provide advice to the Slovenian Government in drafting key decisions in this area.

One of the more important tasks of the Strategic Council, in which leading experts on the constitutional concept of the national order, regionalism, public administration and other areas relevant to regional system are participating, will also be of help to the Government in drafting professionally substantiated decisions which will serve as the basis for preparing draft laws and for harmonising opinions with the politically interested public. At today's session, the Strategic Council adopted relevant policies for further expert work intended for drafting a proposal for Slovenia's regionalisation.
