After the meeting, Prime Minister Pahor said that a decision had been adopted today that will enabling the Government to finalise the amendments to Commissioner Rehn’s proposal on Thursday and then submit them to the Committee on Foreign Policy for consideration. He stressed that the amendments proposed by Slovenia were substantive: "Slovenia will reply to Commissioner Rehn’s proposal and put forward substantive amendments to it, which have today received majority support." Mr Pahor added that Commissioner Rehn’s reply to the proposed amendments would be of paramount importance. "If Slovenia considers that the amendments have been accepted and that they take into account Slovenia’s vital interests, the appropriately amended proposal by Commissioner Rehn will then be submitted for procedure."

Mr Pahor also expressed his wish for final settlement of the border issue between Slovenia and Croatia as this would mark a new chapter in relations between the two countries. He reiterated that it was important that Slovenia had taken the necessary time to deliberate on the matter, and had held all the necessary legal and political consultations, as this was the only way to clarify all the unresolved issues.
