In his address, Prime Minister Pahor touched upon two main topics, including the decentralisation of Slovenia and improvement in drawing on structural funds.  Mr Pahor further stressed that the Government considers the decentralisation of Slovenia as one of its priority projects to be addressed together with appropriate regional development.

He expressed satisfaction with the first meeting of the Strategic Council for decentralisation and regionalisation of Slovenia and emphasised that, in spite of the current economic circumstances, this is the right time to tackle this process. "We need development-oriented regions with sufficient staff and financial power in order to meet the expectations of municipalities and citizens living in these regions," added Prime Minister Pahor.
