Prime Minister Borut Pahor attends the 14th meeting of businessmen from the Primorska region

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, today in Anhovo attended the 14th meeting of businessmen from the Primorska region. In his opening address, Prime Minister Pahor stressed that, at its last session, the Government had given its consent to Slovenia’s participation in the project to build the International Accelerator Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research (FAIR). He highlighted, in particular, the opportunities for Slovenian companies and research institutions to participate in this project, which will have a number of positive effects in many areas.

At the meeting, Mr Pahor outlined the measures taken so far by the Government to tackle the economic and financial crisis, and answered questions from businessmen from the Primorska region, who have high expectations of the recently adopted guarantee scheme. Businessmen highlighted the importance of seizing opportunities brought about by investment in development, noting, however, that this requires appropriate staff. It is important that efforts are made to prevent a "brain drain" of skilled staff from the Slovenian economy. Prime Minister Pahor agreed, adding that small and medium-sized enterprises are also important for Slovenia’s breakthrough in development.
