The UAE Foreign Minister outlined his country’s bid to host the headquarters of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), and highlighted the advantages of his country compared to the other candidate countries, all of them EU Member States. The Prime Minister acknowledged the Foreign Minister’s presentation, stressing, however, the importance of solidarity between the EU Member States, which is a very important factor in decision-making. Slovenia will communicate its support during the meeting on Monday.

The second part of the talks was dedicated to economic cooperation between the UAE and Slovenia; the Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister agreed that the countries should sign the agreements on direct investment and on cooperation in civil aviation as soon as possible in order to provide a platform for improved economic cooperation between the two countries. The United Arab Emirates also invited Slovenia to participate in joint investment in the Western Balkans.
