Prime Minister Pahor attends the opening of a new Acroni company facility in Jesenice

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, today attended the opening of a new continuous casting facility for the Acroni company in Jesenice. In his opening address, he said that "the Government, irrespective of the current economic situation, is committed to bringing Slovenia from the crisis stronger." He further stressed that a stimulating business environment can be created despite severely restricted financial resources, so that the Slovenian economy may develop its competitive potential and stay abreast of the leaders in the global market. "Only in this way will we be ready for the time when a new cycle of economic growth starts, and will we be able to attain a development balance at a new, higher level," said Mr Pahor.

"I am pleased to see examples of good practice," Prime Minister Pahor continued, referring to the measures of the Slovenian Government, which have also helped to save jobs at Acroni. He also expressed his satisfaction with the way that Acroni management has not resigned itself to the economic crisis but self-confidently continued to pursue an investment strategy, to enable the launch of even more complex products, as well as to improve the quality of the existing range.
