At the beginning of the Folkart event at the Drava River, Prime Minister Pahor addressed the audience and wished the festival many successful and enjoyable years to come. "I hope that this festival, being not only a festival of the town of Maribor and its surrounding region, but also a festival of all of Slovenia, will take place with the same enthusiasm and success for many years in the future." In this context the Slovenian Prime Minister emphasised the significance of Maribor as the future European Capital of Culture and said that this project is not only important for the town of Maribor, but also for Slovenia as a whole.
