Prime Minister Pahor receives AR FVG President Renzo Tondo

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, today met the President of the Regional Government of the Autonomous Region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Renzo Tondo, who is on an official visit to Slovenia at the invitation of the Minister for Local Self-Government and Regional Policy, Zlata Ploštajner.

The presidents focused their talks on relations between the Republic of Slovenia and the Autonomous Region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia. They agreed that the two states are linked by geography, history and culture and that relations between the respective minorities are very important. The presidents also discussed potential joint programmes to be financed by European Union funds. They stressed that both sides share common interest in strengthening mutual ties, because the development of the process of European integration offers increasing opportunities for cooperation.
