At today's session at Brdo pri Kranju, the Government of the Republic of Slovenia opened debate on the 2010 and 2011 budget breakdowns

In his introduction at the press conference, which took place during the government session, Prime Minister Pahor said that ministers are satisfied with the results achieved so far; since in the first half of the year, the Government, through the  package of its anti-crisis measures and two supplementary budgets, has endeavoured to achieve, two objectives in particular: "To ensure economic impetus during the recession and to provide people with social security." He added that some indicators have already shown stabilisation of the gross domestic product, while other indicators will show an improvement only after the situation of the Slovenia's important external trading partners improves.

Prime Minister Pahor pinpointed the budget deficit as the key issue to be discussed at today's government session.  In this context, the Prime Minister highlighted that a basic guideline of the new budgets is the so-called anchor of expenditures, which will ensure that the deficit does not exceed the possibility of being repaid by the current generation, mentioning that "this will also make the current crisis less stressful."

Through the budgets for 2010 and 2011, the Government will thus try to reduce the deficit to below 3 % of GDP and ensure that government revenue will be development-oriented to provide impetus to the economy and social security.
