Prime Minister Pahor convenes the fifth session of the Strategic Economic Council

Headed by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, the Strategic Economic Council has held its fifth session. The participants exchanged views on the current economic situation and the forecasts for the next year, focusing in particular on an exchange of opinions and experience in establishing a system for employees to participate in profits. The members of the council unanimously supported the upgrading and improvement of the existing system.

Members of the council also stressed that for the objective of increasing the competitiveness of the Slovenian economy through the positive motivation of employees, the employee profit-sharing system is useful and potentially efficient, especially under conditions of non-time-limited payments and the equalisation of the status of income tax with that of capital income.

Following a comprehensive exchange of views and a review of examples of good practice abroad, the members of the Strategic Economic Council agreed that the voluntary nature of the system, based on an agreement or contract within an individual company, is an essential condition for achieving the set objectives, since otherwise the upgrading of the system could cause a decline in the international competitiveness of the Slovenian economy.

At the conclusion of the session of the council, Prime Minister Pahor, along with the Minister of the Economy, Matej Lahovnik, made a statement and answered a number of questions.
