Prime Minister Pahor at the investiture of the new Archbishop Anton Stres

This afternoon, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, attended the ceremony on the occasion of the investiture of Dr Anton Stres as the new Archbishop of Ljubljana who succeeded Dr Alojz Uran in that position. Apart from the Apostolic Nuncio to Slovenia, Santos Abril y Castelló, by whom the new archbishop was also invested, the ceremony was attended by numerous high political representatives and priests, bishops, archbishops and cardinals from Slovenia and from abroad.

In his short statement to the press after the event, the Slovenian Prime Minister said that the Apostolic Nuncio is frequently his guest and that also all other meetings, not only with the representatives of the Catholic Church as the largest religious body in Slovenia but also with other religious bodies, are always genuine and honest. This confirms that the relationship between the State and the Church is good.
       
At the solemn investiture, the new Archbishop of Ljubljana, Dr Anton Stres, said among other things that he invites everyone to participate in the diversified and resourceful pastoral initiatives which should take place in joint cooperation, unity and with mutual assistance, and stressed that the Church is and must be a place of creativity.
