Prime Minister Pahor meets representatives of the Slovenian Student Union

The Slovenian Prime Minister, Borut Pahor, together with the Minster of Labour, Family and Social Affairs, Dr Ivan Svetlik, today met representatives of the Slovenian Student Union (SSU). They discussed working documents on small work and a professional document on a comprehensive regulation of the status of students in Slovenia, which is based on an analysis of the current status of students.

Following the meeting, all present agreed that the talks were productive; during the meeting, Prime Minister Pahor said that he remembered his student days and that he understood student problems. All participants stressed that the meeting with the Prime Minister was a step forward to solving student problems.

   

They agreed that the first working group, coordinated by the Ministry of Labour, Family and Social Affairs, will consider the starting positions prepared by SSU concerning the overall situation and social status of students. They also agreed to cooperate on drafting the Scholarships Act; Prime Minister Pahor gave his assurance that he would meet them again after the common guidelines had been prepared.
