At today's meeting, the representatives of the SFPOs particularly highlighted the problems related to the elderly people who cannot afford care in retirement homes. The situation is becoming increasingly critical due to the grant of concessions. Furthermore, the representatives pointed out the urgency of a prompt adoption of an act on long-term care and the insurance for such care. The participants of the meeting agreed that the issue is a very difficult situation of a particular group of people, as well as intergenerational relations.

Prime Minister Pahor promised that by way of a positive campaign, the Government would try to promote the accessibility of social and health-care institutions and other services, such as domestic assistance and other forms of active ageing in domestic environment. The participants also agreed that calculations of certain social services should be made, while reviewing anything that could be optimized and at the same time channelling the funds into those measures that cover most people or the socially most threatened population.
