Prime Minister Pahor meets representatives of the banking sector

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Mr Borut Pahor, today held a meeting with representatives of the banking sector. The participants of the meeting agreed that a new proposal for a guarantee scheme should be drafted facilitating the development of the corporate sector. Mr Pahor noted that "the case of the last year's guarantee scheme which got stuck in the National Assembly for several months must not repeat"

He went on to emphasise that "the new scheme is an absolute priority and I expect the Minister of Finance to place it, in addition to other legislative initiatives, on the Government's agenda as soon as possible". The said scheme will not be an anti-crisis measure, but an instrument intended by the Government to accelerate the provision of loans for a new investment cycle through a state guarantee.
