Prime Minister Pahor meets businessmen from Primorska and attends gala ceremony of the University of Primorska

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, today in Koper attended the meeting of businessmen from the Primorska region organised by the Primorska Chamber of Commerce and Industry. At the meeting, Mr Pahor stressed that the Government will assist enterprises by providing ideas as to the method of overcoming their problems. "The small will become the big, while many of the big will after the end of the crisis cease to exist", said Prime Minister Pahor and highlighted the significance of fresh business ideas and focusing on new markets.

After the meeting, Prime Minister Pahor attended the Gala Ceremony of the University of Primorska and addressed the participants assembled for this occasion. He first expressed his pleasure to participate in this ceremonial event marking the 7th anniversary of the youngest Slovenian public university, which, through its existence and excellent results demonstrates and fulfils its significant role and mission in this region. Mr Pahor went on to say that "the task of the University of Primorska is to transfer the initiatives produced at the crossroads of the Mediterranean and Central Europe into the international university environment, thus contributing to the development at the local and regional level. I am convinced that in view of the location and the activities of the University, this may prove a favourable niche, and that in pursuing your tasks, you will be even more successful".

Prime Minister Pahor closed his address by inviting the participants of the event that, as a significant university partner, they actively participate in drafting the new National Higher Education Programme and the relevant legislation. "Only together and through a joint commitment of all partners will we be able to help shape a higher education environment, in which universities will enjoy autonomy and demonstrate their responsibility".
