Prime Minister Pahor meets representatives of the Slovenian Student Union

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, today met with the representatives of the Slovenian Student Union. The participants of the meeting tried to unify positions on the proposed Small Work Act. At the press conference after the meeting, Prime Minister Pahor said that the Government would like "to adjust the system to the benefit of students whom we wish to complete their studies as soon as possible, to find a job, to start a family and to live a worthwhile and decent life."

The issue which needs to be resolved is that currently, students, due to their social problems, work longer in order to provide for themselves and even their family members. Mr Pahor expressed his hope that next week an agreement would be reached with the students, which, however, need not necessarily be the case. "Every one of us has different interests and responsibilities. We tend to arrange things in a manner as to make them sustainable on the long run in terms of social and functional aspects, but also in terms of rights and obligations of both, the students and the state," concluded Prime Minister Pahor.
