Prime Minister Pahor attends the founding meeting of the Strategic Council for Information Society

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, today attended the founding meeting of the Strategic Council for Information Society. In his introductory address, Prime Minister Pahor expressed his wish that the Council would create a vision of Slovenia's development into an information society and prepare all measures necessary to achieve this goal. To this end, he invited members to propose measures they consider essential.

The strategic council is an advisory body to the prime minister, established with a view to efficiently transferring knowledge, good practices and experience and enhancing cooperation between universities, economy, institutions and interested public in the field of information society. As a rule, its members meet three times a year. Today’s founding session also focused on the proposal for the method of work and implementation of the strategic council’s tasks, digital agenda in the Europe 2020 strategy as well as on the importance of the information and communication technology for achieving the goals set in the Exit Strategy. The sessions will also discuss current challenges in the field of information society and challenges of the informatics in public administration.
