Prime Minister Pahor attends trial switch-off of analogue broadcasting of TV channels TV SLO2, Channel A and TV3

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, accompanied by the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology, Gregor Golobič, today attended a 15-minute trial switch-off of analogue TV broadcasting of TV SLO2, Channel A and TV3 on the transmitter in Beli Križ above Portorož.

The trial switch-off took place simultaneously on all analogue television transmitters in Slovenia for the following three television channels: TV SLO 2, Channel A and TV3.  It was a temporary switch-off taking place from 7.30 p.m. to 7.45 p.m.. "Slovenia will thus make a transition from the analogue to the digital era", said Prime Minister Pahor during the switch-off and added that this is a great step forward in terms of contemporary development. "Imagine the situation: 1 December, 3.00 a.m., the vote of confidence in the Government is about to take place. Whether or not you support the Government, you are still extremely interested what will happen in the National Assembly, and the vote takes place at precisely 3.00 a.m.  Do you intend to knock on your neighbour's door and ask how the story ended?  So, a small tip to those who still think that they will not manage to purchase a TV converter device by 1 December: if you do not want to miss the voting to confirm that this Government will perform its work by the end of its mandate, I nevertheless strongly advise you to do so," illustrated Prime Minister Pahor the situation picturesquely. At the close of his address, he congratulated everyone who supported Slovenia in making this important step into the digital world still before the end of the year.

Minister Golobič assured that "there is still some time left. The key message is: do not hesitate, do not wait until 1 December, because on that day there will be long queues in the shops, some of them will run out of converter devices, and, above all, you will be deprived of all the information you need to monitor the situation in the country and its immediate neighbourhood."
