The Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, today met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, Kasit Piromya, who is on a working visit to Slovenia. The two statesmen agreed that bilateral relations between the two countries were good and that the signing of the agreement on economic cooperation opened up new opportunities. Prime Minister Pahor expressed his satisfaction with the trade in goods, because "Thailand is one of the most important trade partners of Slovenia within the ASEAN region".

In the first months of 2010, the exchange of goods between the two countries exceeded the 2009 exchange of goods and amounted to EUR 27 million which is 28 percent more than it was within the same period in 2009. Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand expressed his satisfaction with signing the agreement on economic cooperation, since it provides  "a sound basis for continuation and upgrading of such a cooperation between the two states." He pinpointed, in particular, the cooperation in development of renewable energy sources and its efficient use and, in the construction sector, a joint action in third countries.  Mr Pahor and Mr Piromya concluded the meeting by assessing the current situation in Egypt and its impact on the stability of the entire region.
