Prime Minister Pahor concludes his state visit to India

During the course of his state visit, Prime Minister Pahor met the Governor of Karnataka, Hansraj Bhardwaj, yesterday evening. Governor Bhardwaj presented his strategy for the swift development of the State of Karnataka, which has enabled Bangalore to be placed among the most rapidly developing cities in India. The Prime Minister and the Governor also discussed economic cooperation between Slovenia and India. Today, the Slovenian delegation will conclude its programme by visiting the Bangalore tech zone, Narayana Hospitals and the Parliament.

  

In the morning, Prime Minister Pahor visited the headquarters of the company, Infosys Campus, where he was welcomed by its CEO and attended a video presentation of the company, followed by talks about the company and opportunities for cooperation with Slovenia. The Prime Minister and CEO exchanged views on the meteoric development of technology and its influence on day-to-day life. Prime Minister Pahor invited the Infosys Centre's students to visit Slovenia. During his visit to the company, Prime Minister Pahor and his delegation were given a tour of the campus, where Mr Pahor planted a tree; the visit was concluded with a tour of the Infosys Concept Centre and innovation laboratory, and by signing the visitors' book.

The Slovenian delegation also visited the company, Biocon, where Prime Minister Pahor was welcomed by the company's Director General, Dr Chandavarkar, who gave an overview of the company and showed the visitors around the premises. Prime Minister Pahor concluded his visit by unveiling a plaque commemorating his visit to the company and by signing the visitors' book.

At midday, Prime Minister Pahor visited Narayana Hospital, which is widely considered to be the most successful in India. The Slovenian delegation was received by the institute's president, Dr Shetty, who presented the activities carried out by the cardiology and surgery department, and the oncology centre. During the course of the visit to the oncology centre, Dr Shetty presented his views on developments in health care and hospitals stating that appropriate health-care reform can enable Slovenia to become the 'health capital of Europe'. Prime Minister Pahor and Minister of Health Marušič gave short addresses.  Prime Minister Pahor expressed his belief that the visit would contribute to further enhancing and deepening cooperation between the two countries in the areas of healthcare and medicine, which would result in improved services for their citizens. Prime Minister Pahor concluded his address by thanking all the hosts from Bangalore in their own language.

   

Prime Minister Pahor also visited the Parliament of Karnataka, where he was received by the representatives from the Lower and Upper Houses.
