The prime minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, today attended an audio-video conference with members of Slovenian Armed Forces deployed in international operations and missions in Afghanistan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo and Lebanon. On the occasion of Slovenian Statehood Day and the twentieth anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Slovenia, Prime Minister Pahor congratulated all those members of the Slovenian Armed Forces engaged in operations and missions abroad. He also conveyed numerous compliments extended to him by foreign statesmen for professionalism demonstrated by members of the Slovenian Armed Forces and their dedication at work. 'Your work is respected and we take pride in it. I would like to extend to you, on the eve of the national holiday, best wishes for the future'.

Representatives of individual contingents of the Slovenian Armed Forces acquainted the Slovenian prime minister with the circumstances and conditions in which they operate and described the tasks with which they have been entrusted. They all stressed that they felt good and were highly motivated for their tasks and duties. They also mentioned that they were well trained, a fact which was also recognised by members of the other armed forces with which they participate in common operations. Prime Minister Pahor inquired with the representatives of individual missions about how the soldiers felt, what difficulties they encountered and whether they needed anything that the government could provide. At the conclusion of the audio-video conference, Prime Minister Pahor expressed his satisfaction that the morale of soldiers deployed abroad was high, which proved to him that they discharged their duties with distinction and in a responsible and professional manner. In this context, he also said that the work carried out by the Slovenian soldiers in missions abroad was highly valued by local citizens and also stressed that 'wherever they are located, members of the Slovenian Armed Forces work on behalf of the international community and ensure peace and safety'. No Slovenian soldier has been seriously wounded or killed during the course his of duties abroad, and Prime Minister Pahor 'ordered' them to return home safely and in good health.
