The Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Mr Borut Pahor, within the framework of his official visit to Israel — deemed by official institutions as a milestone in bilateral relations between the two countries — this evening attended the inauguration of the Israeli-Slovenian Chamber of Commerce, where he gave a speech as a guest of honour.  In his introductory address, Prime Minister Pahor thanked the organisers of this important event and pointed out that this was a unique opportunity for Slovenia to be presented to foreign investors who have shown significant interest in our country, particularly in the fields of tourism, high technologies and university cooperation.

Later on, Prime Minister Pahor then briefly outlined the fundamental characteristics of the Slovenian economy, which is flexible, dynamic and export-oriented; in particular, he pointed out the main data concerning Slovenia’s economic growth and its success in tackling the global crisis. In addition, the Slovenian Prime Minister presented to Israeli businessmen the efforts made by Slovenia in relation to its neighbouring countries in the Eastern and Southern Balkans, which endeavour to enhance their competitiveness and present themselves to Europe as trustworthy partners through intensive trade exchange efforts.

Mutual business opportunities and the countless similarities between the two countries constitute a solid basis for both sides to strengthen their economic cooperation, explained Prime Minister Pahor. He then invited all those present at the ceremonial event to visit Slovenia and take advantage of business cooperation and see the tourist attractions and the natural beauties of Slovenia for themselves.
