The prime minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, today received the chairperson of the Parliament of Georgia, David Bakradze. Prime Minister Pahor first greeted his guest and then briefly familiarised him with developments in Slovenia and the European Union regarding the crisis before presenting the measures needed for the preservation of a stable and strong single European currency.  The chairperson of the Parliament of Georgia expressed his thanks for the reception and his hopes for an improvement in EU economic indicators, particularly since the EU is Georgia's largest trade and investment partner.

During their talks, they touched on bilateral political relations and agreed they are good and as they should be.  Moreover, they drew attention to the opportunity presented to enhance political contacts at various levels. The chairperson of the Parliament of Georgia added that there are also opportunities to strengthen and develop economic cooperation. Company owners are not sufficiently aware of the opportunities offered by the two countries.  This should be improved through the forging of closer political contacts and the organisation of various common economic forums. At the close of the meeting, the two dignitaries discussed the EU enlargement process and the situation in the Western Balkans. They agreed that the European perspective is inevitable for the Western Balkans countries, since it would contribute to the preservation of peace and stability in the region.
