Prime Minister Borut Pahor with his Moldovan counterpart on the case of Moldova Agroindbank (MAIB)

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, had a phone conversation this morning with the Moldovan Prime Minister, Vladimir Filat, on the incident of illegitimately seized shares owned by Slovenian investors in the Bank of Moldova Agroindbank (MAIB). The Moldovan Prime Minister informed the Slovenian Prime Minister that, based on the decision of the Supreme Court of Moldova, the above mentioned shares were returned to their legitimate Slovenian owners. Prime Minister Filat added that he would proceed to implement the radical measures against corruption and organised crime and that the “Slovenian case” proved that the fight against organised crime was one of the priorities of his state. Prime Minister Pahor said that Slovenia supported Moldova’s efforts for EU membership, provided that the Moldovan Government continued with the necessary political and economic reforms, highlighting in particular a radical reform of its Constitution, judicial system and fight against corruption.
