The Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, today attended the continuation of the 31st regular session of the National Assembly, where he had an introductory presentation of the Draft Declaration on activities of the Republic of Slovenia in the institutions of the European Union in the period July 2011 - December 2012. Prime Minister Pahor underlined the importance of the Declaration concerning the activities of Slovenia in the upcoming short-term period. He added that we were ‘witnessing rapid and unpredictable changes and that, in this period, we will have to adapt to them very quickly and on a large-scale, and also to take an active part in co-shaping them’.

Prime Minister Pahor touched upon the next item of the National Assembly's session, the amendment to the Act Regulating the Guarantees of the Republic of Slovenia for Ensuring Financial Stability in the Euro-zone, drawing attention of the deputies to the fact that, by adopting the said amendment, we would not only be making a decision on the aid to Greece but also on the fate of Slovenia. ‘Slovenia is not part of the chain of countries exposed to the risk of a domino effect in the event of one or several euro-zone countries being confronted with a crisis; however, no one can say for sure that any country is exempt from this risk given that the entire European area, in particular the euro-zone, is facing a debt-crisis’, added Mr Pahor. In this context, he expressed his hope that such a decision also be made by other Member States. Should Slovenia’s decision not be in favour of the support, then, according to the Prime Minister, Slovenia will have to assume the responsibility for a possible aggravation of the crisis.
