The Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, today transferred the duties of his office to the incoming Prime Minister, Janez Janša. Mr Pahor also took the opportunity to give Prime Minister Janša a report on the Republic of Slovenia's activities during the 2008–2012 period and wished him much success in his work.

The departing Prime Minister, Borut Pahor, first congratulated Prime Minister Janša on the appointment of his cabinet ministers; Mr Pahor extended congratulations on his own behalf and on behalf of his colleagues to Mr Janša and wished the new Prime Minister every success in his work. "As a citizen and as a political leader still active in Slovenian public and political life, I look into the future and see many questions. I am nevertheless firmly convinced of one thing: together we can succeed, and collectively we can overcome the biggest obstacles on Slovenia's path towards becoming a country where everybody can feel at home in the twenty-first century," stressed the former Prime Minister.

On taking office, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Janez Janša, said: "We are aware of the challenges ahead and of the difficult times and problems that need to be addressed." He stressed that we can have different opinions on some matters, but trust in the Slovenian people is of vital importance.

'We both know that Slovenia is capable of greatness, though these efforts would be less demanding for Slovenia if the political sphere were capable of working together," Prime Minister Janša added. He called upon the departing Prime Minister, Borut Pahor, to establish a level of cooperation between the Government and the opposition that would surpass the classical framework and be of common benefit to the Slovenian state.

The Slovenian Prime Minister Janša thanked the former Prime Minister for all the efforts he made during his term of office.
