NIKA DOLINAR DIVJAK, HEAD OF THE PRIME MINISTER'S CABINET

Nika Dolinar Divjak was born on 21 March 1961 in Kranj. In 1984, she graduated in sociology from the Faculty of Sociology, Political Science and Journalism at the University of Ljubljana.

 

She completed her traineeship at Sava Kranj's public relations department. She joined ŽG-TTG (a former public sector organisation dealing with tourism, transport and catering in the railway industry) in Ljubljana in 1986 where, among other things, she successfully ran the museum train project. In 1992 she was employed at the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Slovenia as a spokesperson in the Minister's Office. From 1994 to 1997 she continued her public relations career in the Social Democratic Party of Slovenia (SDS). From 1997 to 2000 she worked for the SDS deputy group in the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia, first as an adviser and then as the deputy group's secretary. In 2000, when the Slovenian Government was led by Dr Andrej Bajuk, she headed the Office of the Minister of Defence. From 2001 to 2004 she worked as the undersecretary for the SDS deputy group in the National Assembly. From December 2004 to November 2008 she headed the Prime Minister's Office. From December 2008 to February 2012 she worked as an adviser to the SDS deputy group in the National Assembly.
