Today, the tenth Slovenian Government was appointed by the National Assembly, with 50 votes cast in favour of its appointment. The newly elected Government comprises a coalition formed from the following political parties: the Slovenian Democratic Party (SDS), the Gregor Virant Civic List (DLGV), the Democratic Party of Pensioners of Slovenia (DeSUS), the Slovenian People's Party (SLS) and the Christian's People's Party – New Slovenia (N.Si). The Ministers have undertaken that, during their 2012–2015 term of office, they will work for the welfare of Slovenia. In so doing, they will take into account certain strategic objectives, i.e. to ensure that, from 2013 onwards, Slovenia will develop at a rate exceeding the EU average, to reduce unemployment and to raise employment to the level stated in the Lisbon Strategy (employment for 70% of the working population), thereby improving the standard of living of people living in Slovenia and ensuring their welfare.

The Slovenian Government intends to achieve these objectives through fiscal consolidation based on the more streamlined functioning of the state and the public sector, and, in particular, on economic growth and the creation of new jobs.
