Congratulations from the OECD for Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Janša

On his appointment to office, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Janez Janša, was congratulated by the Secretary-General of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), Angel Gurría.

 

In his letter to the Slovenian Prime Minister, Mr Gurría wrote that, like Slovenia, the European Union and global economy face very challenging times. In this regard, he emphasised that it is vital Slovenia tackles the demanding economic challenges at hand and noted that the experience gained by Prime Minister Janša when he first led the Slovenian Government would be crucial in achieving this objective.

 

The OECD Secretary-General offered the OECD's support to Slovenia in adopting the reforms needed for fiscal consolidation and to kick start economic growth and employment. He also stressed that the OECD's expert assistance, experience and support were available to Slovenia in this respect.
