The Slovenian Prime Minister, Janez Janša, has received letters of congratulations on his appointment from his Bulgarian, Macedonian and Croatian counterparts – Boyko Borisov, Nikola Gruevski and Zoran Milanović, respectively.

The Bulgarian Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, emphasised that Janša's wealth of experience in fulfilling the important responsibilities of this office is clearly a considerable advantage. Moreover, he expressed his belief that the two countries will continue to support each other within Euro-Atlantic structures and the European family of nations. The Bulgarian Prime Minister also highlighted the positive development of bilateral relations thus far and expressed his satisfaction with the recent opening of the Slovenian Embassy in Sofia, an event that will certainly contribute to further enhancing relations between the two countries.

The Macedonian Prime Minister, Nikola Gruevski, first highlighted the good bilateral relations that exist between the two countries and then expressed his belief that these will continue to develop in a spirit of friendship and mutual understanding in all areas. He went on to emphasise that the two countries share common values. In his letter of congratulations, Mr Gruevski also expressed his wish that Slovenia would continue to support Macedonia in its efforts to join Euro-Atlantic structures.

The Croatian Prime Minister, Zoran Milanović, wished Janez Janša every success in performing his responsible and important duties, particularly at a time when Europe and the rest of the world are faced with great economic and financial challenges. He went on to emphasise the Croatian Government's resolve to continue its policy of good neighbourly cooperation and the development of partnerships for the purpose of realising common interests. Furthermore, Mr Milanović emphasised the fact that, in 2013, the Republic of Croatia will become the 28th EU Member State, meaning that, as of then, the two countries will share the same future. EU membership will provide additional opportunities for enhancing cooperation and good neighbourly relations.
