Discussions about opportunities for development and the understanding and support required to resolve the current situation in the country characterised the first day of the Slovenian Government's visit to the Pomurje region. The Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Janez Janša, began the Slovenian Government's second visit to the Pomurje region by paying a visit to KEMA, a company in Puconci.

The team's dedication and nigh-on 20-year tradition have resulted in a successful company with foreign ownership which has more than 90% of its own development, and has not been hit hard by the crisis. The Prime Minister expressed his appreciation of the company’s success in foreign markets and ability in finding opportunities for the construction industry in Central Asian markets. "Participation and competition in foreign markets will be of vital importance for the Slovenian economy's development," the Prime Minister pointed out. During the meeting, the participants discussed a long-term revival in the Slovenian construction industry. The Prime Minister said that if the conditions for the work were established, Slovenia could count on large projects.  They also touched on the fundamental issue relating to the successful development of Slovenia, i.e. the education system. "Our schools must develop personnel who meet labour market demands," the manager of the company, Mr Branko Drvarič, explained. At the end, the company's representatives commended the Government's endeavours and wished it every success in its work. The Prime Minister was accompanied on his visit by the Minister of Economic Development and Technology, Radovan Žerjav.

The Prime Minister, together with the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, Žiga Turk, then paid a visit to the Murska Sobota diocese, where he was received by Monsignor Peter Štumpf. During the meeting, the participants discussed the situation in the religious community and stressed the importance of religious values in this time of crisis. The bishop emphasised the successful cooperation with the Evangelical community and expressed his support for the Prime Minister in the implementation of the measures needed by Slovenia.

As the day drew to an end, the Prime Minister and the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport met representatives of the Evangelical community. Bishop Geza Erniša emphasised that the Evangelical community is aware of the significance of values, and said that "the greatest value is if one fulfils one's obligations to the state". He stressed that the community is aware of its obligations in the current situation, and that the community helps people in distress to the best of its ability through its traditional humanitarian work. The Prime Minister took the opportunity to express his gratitude to them for their important contributions, before pointing out that the cost-saving measures regarding social contributions are temporary in nature and that the Slovenian Government is making every effort to create conditions conducive for further growth.
