South Stream gas pipeline project running as planned

In Maribor today, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Janez Janša, met with the Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, Alexey Miller, who is scheduled to attend the international business conference "Slovenia and Russia – New Forms of Partnership in the Global Competition Game" in Portorož.

   

The Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee acquainted Prime Minister Janša with the current status of the South Stream gas pipeline construction project – the study on the overall project has been completed, new project documentation is currently being drawn up, and works should start by the end of this year.

  

The process of establishing Južni tok Slovenija, d.o.o., whose co-owners will be Gazprom and Plinovodi, d.o.o., a Slovenian company, is also in the final stages. Mr Miller and Prime Minister Janša agreed that the South Stream gas pipeline is a project of national importance which will also have a positive impact on Europe's energy security.
