Prime Minister Janez Janša, accompanied by the Minister of Economic Development and Technology, Radovan Žerjav, begins the third government's tour with a visit to LUMAR IG.

The Prime Minister commended the company, which produces low-energy and passive prefabricated wooden buildings, and said that it is a perfect example of the fact that a good company can grow in adverse conditions. Marko Lukić, the company’s director, spoke primarily about the opportunities in the timber industry, bearing in mind that Slovenia is one of Europe’s most forested countries; he welcomed the efforts made by the Government to adopt suitable measures to support the creation of a favourable economic climate. Mr Janša said that the Government had adopted an action plan called "Wood is Beautiful" in order to enhance the competitiveness of the Slovenian forest-wood chain by 2020; besides increased competitiveness, its primary objective is to create new jobs with high added value. The Minister of Economic Development and Technology, Radovan Žerjav, added that horizontal grouping was necessary in the timber industry in order to enhance its global competitiveness.

Prime Minister Janez Janša then appeared as a guest on the local television stations TV Maribor and RTS. The conversation focused on the situation in the region and on the measures envisaged by the Government to help the region. In this context Mr Janša explained that Slovenia has experienced unbalanced regional development over the past twenty years, before adding that every region, with the exception of Central Slovenia, would require special consideration. He went on to say that the National Assembly is expected to adopt the second package of measures to stimulate economic growth at its July session; the package aims to improve the conditions for the growth and development of healthy companies.
